Is there any diffinitive proof that vitamins and/or herbal supplements do in fact work?”
…alough I confess I don’t have a link to a specific site. But the question is pretty broad. For instance – a ‘one a day’ generic vitamin is a good idea. It compensates for key elements you may be missing in your diet. Of course it’s healthier to get those from your diet, but if not, the pills help. Do they help as much as the diet does? No, because your body doesn’t digest a pill the same way it does a salad or a casserole. A great deal of the benefit of the vitamin can be lost. To offset this, try to take the multivitamin right after a meal – it will remain in your stomach dissolving longer, and you will have more of a chance to digest more of it. But if you are taking a multi vitamin and your urine turns a bright yellow, well, those are the vitamins having not been absorbed. Either you are taking too many, or you need to take them with a meal. As for herbal supplements, there are just too many for a comprehensive yes/no answer. The best answer here is to research the specific item
