Is there a way to get out of a purchase contract for a used car?
There is a way, but it requires just a little advance planning. I have used this method in Ontario, Canada; the laws might be different where you live, so check before you buy. Make your purchase contract/agreement dependent on having a pre-purchase inspection confirm that the car is in a condition that is satisfactory to you. Then take the car to a mechanic that you trust and have him/her go over it with a fine tooth comb, so to speak.
