Is there a limit to the number of third party pieces of equipment that can be controlled with FCPowerTM software?
FCPowerTM software is not ‘freeware’ or ‘shareware’ and represents an investment of well over a million dollars to develop. Therefore, we would hope that users do not use FCPowerTM software to control only third party equipment. At the same time, we encourage users to install FCPowerTM software in their office or at home so they are able to develop scripts, custom monitors, etc., while not connected to any hardware. To encourage everyone to remain ethical, Fideris Incorporated has placed a simple limit within FCPowerTM software that requires the ratio of FiderisTM equipment to third-party equipment to be greater than 1. The exception to this requirement is the embedded controller that is used for competitive hardware upgrades. These controllers report back as multiple FiderisTM ‘instruments’ (the number depending upon the instrument), so that third-party hardware may be used with this equipment.
