Is The MacBook any good?
I’d recommend going with a macbook, especially for the things you’ll be doing with it. There are tons of creative apps available for the Mac, and you get the iLife suite with the computer (iWeb, iPhoto, iDVD, iMovie, Garageband.) Also, using OS X is a lot safer and more efficient – there are no virus threats or spyware on the Mac, and things like defragging the hard drive are done automatically in the background. Since you’re going to college soon, you can also go to Apple’s online store (store.apple.com) and click the link for the “education store” on the left side to find out the educational discount you can get. If you have an Apple retail store in your area, that’s the best place to start. If not, check out a local Best Buy – they’ve started having an Apple section, usually staffed by someone who actually works for Apple.
