There has always been some confusion on this matter. With regards to the Yahoo! Answers community guidelines, this practise is known as solicitation and could be reported in theory. Having said this, Yahoo! Answers staff have stated that such actions are permitted, assuming the user does post a reasonable answer that fulfils the requirements of the author of the question. In such cases, while the act of requesting others to answer your question may be frowned upon, the user did take the time to resolve the author’s question. If no answer or a poor answer is provided, one could report such content as either not an answer or solicitation.
