Is playing fantasy sports for money legal?
The Federal Government recognizes fantasy sports as a game of skill. The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 specifically excludes fantasy sports from the list of activities considered gambling. Different states, however, have different laws pertaining to contests of skill on the internet. Due to those laws, we regrettably cannot allow customers from the following states to play in leagues with cash prizes (though they may still play in play money leagues): Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Montana, Tennessee, and Vermont. Should the legal situation in any of those states change for the better, we will open them up immediately.
