Is Pace a Rootkit?

Pace is not a Rootkit. It doesn’t try to hide itself from the operating system. Like any software protection technology, Pace stores encrypted files on your disk in order to manage the state of your licenses. Unlike other applications who store this information in the first sectors of your hard disk preventing you from ever reinstalling a demo version, we store everything on your system partition. If you format your hard disk or simply reinstall your system, there won’t be any persistent Pace files. This means you’ll be able to use the demo version again and it also means you must transfer your licenses prior to reinstalling your system (this can be done easily in the application using the license transfer function).
