Is latex flame retardant?

0

Some latex produces add a synthetic chemical to make the mattress flame retardant. This means that if an ember was to land on the latex it would likely go out. However if an open flame was to touch it, it would go up in flames and produce a toxic smoke. Where as latex without the retardant, will stop the ember and if exposed to direct open flame set alight but produce a non toxic smoke.
