Is it true that the Federation is going to sell the Wyda Way campus?
The Federation has not decided to sell the campus. It has, however, created a task force to review the best uses of the property. That task force will consider all options including continuing with the current use (shared use by Shalom School and Federation offices and meeting room), expansion of the plant (unlikely given financial constraints), use of a portion of the property for living facilities for the elderly, such as assisted living or nursing care, and sale or lease of all or part of the property. The Federation owns this property in trust for our Jewish community. We have the fiduciary duty to ensure that this resource is properly used and managed. The task force is broad based and includes representatives of all affected organizations. It will consult with the community-at-large and will then make a recommendation to the Federation Board of Trustees.
