Is it possible to ever build a time machine?
Einstein published his Theory of General Relativity in 1915 but it was not until the late nineteen forties that, the Austrian mathematician, Kurt Gödel found a time travel possibility within a solution to some relativistic equations (1949). He found, that if the universe is rotating then time travel in both directions should be possible. By both directions, I mean, into the past and back or into the future and back. Alas, recent observational work used to study the cosmic back-ground radiation has indicated that the universe has not rotated significantly since its creation. Hence, time travel into the past would appear to be impossible. However, Einstein’s theory of Special Relativity allows ‘time-dilated’ travel into the future. If an astronaut sets off on a journey travelling at a high percentage of the speed of light, then his on board clock will run more slowly than an equivalent clock here on Earth. Thus, when the high-speed traveller returns after a few years of his elapsed time;
It is not possible. Time is the accumulation of events. This means to go back in time you would have to “unaccumulate” events and this is physically impossible. One basic law of physics is: what is done is done. It cannot be reversed in the sense of going back in time. Now, in theory, certain things are possible. For example, light travels at a given speed. If you could invent something that travels faster than light, you could send it out into space and capture light that has left our planet earlier and analyze it. It would be a way of looking into the past, although the image quality would be crappy. And you would not actually be in the past. “Travelling” into the future is actually much easier. At one point we will be capable of putting human bodies into a state of permanent sleep with such low metabolism that the body will persist for a long time. You could then awake lets say 200 years from now and be in the future. However, you could not come back.
well the way I see it is if anyone has built a time machne in the future they have also passed a law that says they arent allowed to tell anyone from the past that theyve travelled there in this way so we wont find out until one is made it would be great though, I would pay for the chance to travel in time :0)
