A. Yes! Legal Requirements in Texas state that home educators are required to teach reading, math, spelling, grammar, and good citizenship in a bona fide manner, using a written curriculum. The Texas Home School Coalition (THSC) estimates that there are currently 75,000 to 100,000 home school families educating over 200,000 children in the State of Texas. Also, home schools in Texas are considered unaccredited private schools.
Yes! Homeschooling is legal. In New Mexico, parent-teachers are required to have at least a high school diploma; notify the state superintendent of the home school’s operation within 30 days; and maintain records of childhood immunizations or waivers of that requirement.
