The drug Demerol has come up in news in relation to the death of pop star Michael Jackson. According to sources, the pop star collapsed this morning due to excess intake of the drug Demerol. Its been said that it is the culminating effect of the anti-anxiety drugs Xanon, Zoloft and painkiller Demerol that may have caused the cardiac arrest. Demerol is a narcotic painkiller similar to that of Morphine that is prescribed to reduce average to severe pain. Though known to be a successful pain reliever, Demerol comes with some dangerous side effects like impairment of thinking or reaction abilities and even death if taken in excess. Moreover, its regular intake may lead to addiction thus requiring absolute consultation with the doctor before its intake.
