Is Cozumel Mexico safe?
Cozumel is an island, and they work very, very hard to keep it clean and safe and good for tourists. It is not a pest hole or a crime area at all. You can eat the food and drink the water, and your biggest worry is crossing the main street in San Miguel! The people are very friendly and helpful, and most speak English, and they will knock themselves out for you if you try a little Spanish! I go there at least once every year and have never had any problem whatsoever. Go have fun!
Cozumel is safe. My hubby and I have been there many times. Just beware some of the locals drive like maniacs, so just be careful when you cross the street. Every time we go there I feel comfortable. But I don’t feel comfortable in Costa Maya, Ensenada, TJ, Cancun. Don’t listen to some of the people on here they are inflating bogus rumors and haven’t experienced it for them selves.
Of course there are some issues everywhere in Mexico, and everywhere in the US and everywhere in Europe so dont let other’s ignorance to stop you from something good. You do need to take precautions, as in every other country. The touristic areas are really safe, and those “political” problems someone wrote about, are far away from Cozumel. It is safe to travel, just as i said, take precautions, dont show off your mobile, laptop, etc dont visit weird places, dont go alone. well all that kind of things.
