Neither i4see nor CATE are SIF compatible. The Department of Education’s Office of Information Technology and i4see personnel are reviewing SIF for possible future use. The acronym SIF stands for Schools Interoperability Framework. SIF is a sophisticated, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) web services protocol for exchanging data automatically among different K–12 software systems.
