Installation of a PTF fails with error message CPF3908 (“PTF cannot be loaded”). What could be wrong?
When you install DTM for iSeries on a system on which a previous version of the product has already been installed, you must first of all ensure that all PTF’s for this version have been applied permanently before continuing with the installation of the product. The operating system OS/400 imposes the obligation that all PTF’s should be applied permanently before the modification level of an IBM licensed program is increased. This rule also applies to DTM for iSeries , since it is an IBM licensed program. When the product would nonetheless be installed on top of a previous version without all PTF’s for this version having been applied permanently, any attempt to load a future PTF would invariably fail with the system error message CPF3908 (“PTF cannot be loaded”). In this case, the only way to solve this problem would be to reinstall the older version of the product, and then apply all PTF’s for this version permanently. Even deleting the product with the DLTLICPGM command will not rem
