In NatHERS and AccuRate, the obstruction is referenced from the building and a window. Why does BERS reference it from the edge of the grid sheet?
It is easier to reference each obstruction once from the origin of the grid as is done in BERS than to have to define it for each window as in ACCURATE. Many obstructions such as tall buildings or mountains are too far away to be represented on the plan. As a general comment I would suggest that you forget about the way ACCURATE deals with modelling in a text based way and don’t assume that things are done in the same way in BERS. People used to BERS also need to rid themselves of preconceived ideas if they were to use ACCURATE. Pretend that you have been driving a manual car for years and are now driving an automatic for the first time. You don’t have to use the clutch or to change gear, but you do need to keep your foot on the brake to stop from moving. There is nothing like getting plenty of practice to become familiar with something new.
