In a comparative scale on long term basis which mode of generation is most beneficial to man and environment and where does the nuclear energy programme stand?
To bridge the gap between availability and demand, mixed mode operation of all types of generation of power are essential. However nuclear power will play a vital role in the long run to solve power problem in the country with no adverse effect to man and environment. Nuclear energy has the great potential with the resources of Thorium available when it is taken to the third stage i.e. using U233 and Thorium cycle. Thorium deposit in India is adequate for 300000 MWe for 300 years.
