Many online resources licensed by Fondren Library are restricted to computers on the Rice campus network. Information on using restricted online resources while not on the Rice campus can be found on the Access to Electronic Resources page. Note that Fondren’s catalog, as well as most of its website, are available from anywhere. Return to Top • Q: What does STORAGE and LSC mean (as a location in the online catalog)? Why do you send materials there? A: Fondren Library continues to purchase books for our collection at a rate of 45,000-55,000 volumes per year, yet the building has not increased in size since 1969. So, we’re out of space to keep everything here. Older, lower use materials (and/or those duplicated with online access) are housed outside the Fondren Library in closed, staff-only access spaces: STORAGE and LSC. You may request any of these items using a web form; retrieval takes no more than one business day.
