If I hold a provisional licence now how will the changes affect me?

If you are in the “first-year” provisional period you will automatically be treated as being in the P1 stage and must then complete the P2 stage before being eligible to progress to a full licence. If you have completed the first 12 months of the provisional period you will automatically be treated as being in the P2 stage. Time already accumulated will count towards the minimum period that a person must be in that P2 stage before being eligible to progress to a full licence.
