From what I have read, you are out of luck. If you do not install the same firmware that the player came with originally then the player will not function properly. The instructions probably say you can update the firmware, but I have never been able to update the firmware on any of the mp4 players I have owned. You may be able to find some more help at www.mympxplayer.org.
