I had also considered a plankton refugium, but is it necessary if I already see some evidence of lots of microorganisms at night in the main tank?

<> When I started thinking about refugium types, I felt I would like to a) control nitrates a little better or lacking that b) supplement my fish/corals with a natural food supply to get away from foods like Phytoplankton additives , or zooplankton additives….What do you think? <> I want to make the best use of the refugium, given my limits in size- i.e. what’s best for small refugiums in a tank that’s slowly converting from FOWLR to reef status. Also, if I did do a DSB (which I only will do if you think I’d still get benefits at 5-7 gals), is it ok to throw some pads/media like Scotchbrite or foam in there, to try and culture zooplankton in an unlit DSB refugium? <
