How Will The Mediation Process Work?
A teacher, staff member, or student in conflict may refer a conflict to the Guidance Office by completing a simple form. If mediation is appropriate, both parties will be contacted to seek their voluntary participation in the process. If they agree to mediate, the mediation team will schedule a session, and the meeting will result in an action plan determined by both sides in the dispute. A follow-up procedure will monitor the progress of the plan.. If mediation is chosen by a student as an alternative to suspension, and the disputants either 1) fail to reach agreement in the session, 2) fail to follow the action plan, or 3) continue the dispute, their case will be referred to the assistant principals’ office for appropriate disciplinary action. How Can You Help? Since this is a new program, we naturally would appreciate the support of all middle school students and staff. If you become aware of a conflict between students which might be improved by the mediation process, please notify
