First, and foremost, a student’s academic performance in high school is the most critical factor in college admissions. Additional factors, such as extra-curricular or co-curricular activities, recommendations from teachers, community service, awards or recognitions, and quality of the high school program and whether or not it is accredited are considered in highly competitive admission processes where colleges or universities are looking for factors that separate or distinguish applicants from one another. Therefore accreditation may or may not impact a student’s application to a college or university. Students should check with the Admissions Office of the college or university they are applying to for specific criteria relevant to the admissions process.
