How will all of the weed research and management be effective if my neighbours choose not to participate in weed control?

Unfortunately weed species such as willows, water hyacinth and lippia have infested large areas of both the Macquarie Marshes and Gwydir Wetlands. The management being undertaken as part of the NSW Wetland Recovery Program will address localised invasion problems, particularly with regards to willows in the Macquarie valley and water hyacinth in the Gwydir valley. In addition, the research that is being undertaken on lippia will provide guidance as to how management should be undertaken on a large, integrated scale in both these target wetlands and throughout Australia. As with many management actions, implementation will depend on the willingness and uptake of land managers; both public and private.
