How were the pictures chosen?
The initial pool of words for ISF was chosen using the Educator’s Word Frequency Guide to identify words that are used in the first and second grade written materials that students will be asked to read in English and that could be represented by pictures. Across all of the forms, some words will be easier and more familiar to students and others will be less familiar, but all represent words they will probably be asked to read.
