The charter amendments were proposed by two-thirds vote of the Shelby County Board of Commissioners. Ordinance No. 360 and No. 361 were adopted by the County Commission on June 2, 2008 and approved by the Shelby County Mayor, A C Wharton, Jr. on June 4, 2008.
