How to make a copy of a car key cheaply???
If you have the 2 original keys with the chip in them you can make a third or fourth key cheaper yourself. If you only have one key you need to go to the dealer. I had two keys so I had the small locksmith order a blank key with the chip in it for $30 instead of the $90 he said it would be to do the entire job himself, then he cut it and gave me the instructions of how to program the third key. With the Ford Escape I had to put in one key turn it to on, not start, leave it for so many seconds , then take it out and do the same with the second key, then put in the new key and turn it back on and the car computer programed the chip in the new key to read it. Find a locksmith who will tell you instuctions for your car, they still make money for getting the blank and cutting it, but charge half the amount for not having to do the work themselves even though it only takes a few minutes to do it.
