Gary is correct in stating that you cannot use 2 modems on one internet connection line. The ISP who provides the service for your friends connection give out 1 Public IP address per connection line. That IP address is then copied over to 1 router. You cannot hook up 2 modems to one line. Now, if you were wanting to hook up a second router to that connection you could, but it would be overkill as most routers allow a connection to the modem and four wired connections. If it is a wireless router you can then connect up to ten machines wired and wireless. You can actually connect more than 10 machines to a wireless network but it becomes very difficult to manage and it would slow down everyone who uses it as all need to share the subscription bandwidth.
