Most Internet credit card payment systems today use comprehensive encryption technolgies together with other techniques to send credit card payment instructions. For example in Secure Electronic Transaction (SET), digital certificates and public key cryptography techniques are used. With solutions such as SET, it is even much safer than sending them across through telephone or faxes.
