How old is Bellarmine?
Bellarmine University is an independent Catholic university. The Archdiocese of Louisville founded the university in 1950. In 1968, Bellarmine merged with Ursuline College and became an independent university governed by a self-perpetuating Board of Trustees. Bellarmine continues in the Catholic tradition, the oldest continuing tradition of higher education in the history of the world. The University was named for St. Robert Bellarmine, Jesuit, Cardinal and Saint.
