Ok, once again. There is no such thing as a common or average ant. There are many species of ant, living in just about every habitat on Earth. Some species have short lifes, others have long. I chose a species that is fairly common in North America. The leaf cutter ant, Atta sexdens. The queen live 10 to 15 years. http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/si… If you want info on longevity of other ant species. Go to the site above. Enter the common name in the search box. Fact is the Animal Diversity Wed, ADW, is a great source for a capsule of information on any animal.

the worker ants can live up to be 2 to3 years old when they die. But i’m not sure how long the queen lives, it must be long!!!
