How much will IPSA cost?
The estimated cost of setting up IPSA in 2009/10 is £6.6m. This figure reflects the one-off costs of establishing a new, independent public body of this sort. After this initial cost, early indications suggest that, in terms of direct staffing costs, IPSA will cost less than the previous House of Commons expenses system within the Fees Office. The budget for 2010/11 will be made available once finalised.
