How much will a visit to the vet cost?
Depends on the vet, there is the walking in the door cost then whatever is wrong cost. I find if you go the ASPCA their cost are a lot less. You can walk out of a vet visit spending anywhere from $100 to $500. The office visit usually starts around $60, the ASPCA office visit is usually half of that. Good luck!
Your dog could have eaten something “bad” to make her sick, or she could have Parvo. Either way, she “has” to see the vet. Explain to her vet how she’s acting, and the fact that you don’t have a lot of money. Some vets will allow you to pay a certain amount, and payments for the rest of the bill. Five days is too long to go without food…take your dog in ASAP! I know that the visit, and my dogs shots, plus ear medication, cost 178.00. If your vet says they don’t allow payments, call different vets until you find one who “will.” Good luck either way.
If you think that it’s going to be too expensive in one lump some if she is very ill talk to the vet about paying off in instalments or ask them if they would take a number of post dated cheques to clear the cost. A vet would rather see an animals treated than worry about you paying right away. Look into pet insurance but remember some are not all they are cracked up to be and you will have to pay more for a good policy. Some people prefer to set up a vets bill pot. Open a savings account and put the £30 a month that you would pay to insure your dog in the account. It won’t help you now but it’s a good thing to do in the future.
