The length of potential recording time available in the VN-5000 is governed by the recording quality mode selected. CELP (Code Excited Linear Prediction) technology has dramatically increased the recording capacity of the VN-5000 compared to earlier generations of the VN-Series Olympus digital voice recorders. An HQ (High Quality) mode recording uses more memory than an LP (Long Play) quality mode recording because the HQ mode makes a more-detailed digital record than does the LP mode.
