How much does it cost to board a loft?
If that is for supply of materials and the work, it is not too bad really. It is hellish work to board up to the edge of the eaves, it is easier to fix a timber and use half-inch ply to come vertically down to the new board floor, this greater insulates the ‘room’ you are creating and makes it more of a viable storage space. I did mine last year, I used a tongue&grooved 3/4″ board (2.1metres long, 120mm wide) from B&Q, as it was convenient to pick up a couple of packs each night on my way home, and then lay them. If you have someone to take delivery, and have a local timber yard, you can probably get a good price for your carefully-calculated requirement. Is there no-one in the family who can do this for you? And you might consider extra insulation at the same time, and it can be easy to work a switched light into the loft, along with a hatch-ladder to aid access. I store classic car parts in mine.
