How much does counseling cost?
Charges are dependent on each individual. If you have health insurance or an ACCESS card, there is a good chance that your services could be covered through those plans. Additionally, if your resources are limited you may be eligible for a sliding scale which utilizes public funding. The best way to have this question answered is to call our offices. Clear Concepts will work with you to help prevent finances from becoming a roadblock to recovery. Please don’t let finances stop you from asking for help.
Counseling services are free to all enrolled students, faculty and staff. If it is determined that the treatment intervention needs to involve services outside the scope of the Concordia Counseling Center, such as a psychiatric consultation, medication evaluation or specialty counseling (i.e. substance abuse), appropriate referrals will be made. The student is responsible for any costs associated with outside services.
The fee for services at CHARIS is $120 for doctoral-level clinicians. Group counseling rates are $30 per hour. You are expected to pay the prorated session fee for phone calls made by the counselor at your request. The charges for letters, assessments, consultations, copying records, legal research, testimony, etc. need to be arranged with the counselor prior to these services being provided. These rates can be discounted in cases of financial need. Please talk with your counselor about this discount. If at any time you are unable to make a payment or if your financial situation should interfere with your treatment, your counselor will work with you to develop an acceptable plan. Payment for counseling is expected at the start of each session. The fee for service covers a 50-minute session. If you do not cancel a minimum of 24 hours prior to any scheduled appointment, you will be held financially responsible for that appointment.
The fee for the initial intake is $45. The counseling fees at CHARIS are $50 for interns, $95 for Master level clinicians, and $140 for Doctorate level clinicians. Group rates are $40 per hour. These fees cover a 50 minute session. These rates can be discounted in cases of financial need. You may talk with the intake counselor about this discount. Sometimes your church or a family member may be willing to help pay for some counseling. Many health insurance plans have benefits for counseling.
