How much are JETs paid?
The JET remuneration is 3.6 million per year, or 300,000 per month (click here for a currency exchange calculator). After deductions for health, pension, and employment insurance, JETs take home approximately 258,000 per month. (Click here for a cost-of-living-in-Tokyo link.) However, JETs who have been enrolled in the pension system for a minimum of 6 months are eligible to receive a partial refund of their premiums after they leave the JET Program and return to their home country.
