How many men served in Enterprise total?
There is currently no precise answer to this question. Published estimates of the number of men who served in Enterprise range from 10,000 to 30,000. These figures include ship’s company, officers, air groups and other staffs. My own estimate is between 15,000 and 17,000 men. This is based on the assumptions that an average man’s tour of duty with the Big E was around 18 months long, and that her total complement was just under 3,000 men during wartime.
