How long does the testing take?
It depends on what services are being tested and if any problems are encountered during testing. Vendors are scheduled the following number of days per service tested: E1 (2.048 Mb/s) – 2 days Fractional T45 – 1 day in addition to T1.5 or T45 testing. T45 – 2 days SONET – 20 days Primary Rate ISDN – 5 days remote, 5 days on site. SS7 – 5 days remote, 5 days on site.
Once our laboratory has received the biological sample(s), the following steps are performed to generate a DNA profile: • Screening- to determine if blood, semen or saliva is present (Optional if requested) • Sampling of the evidentiary specimen • Extraction of the DNA • DNA quantitation • PCR amplification • Electrophoresis • Data Analysis • Sampling of the reference specimen • Extraction of the DNA • DNA quantitation • PCR amplification • Electrophoresis • Data Analysis • Statistical Analysis & Report Generation • Case Review Each of these processes can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days to perform. Once the DNA profile from the evidence has been generated the reference sample is subjected to the same steps to obtain a DNA profile. All data generated must be analyzed by two independent analysts and reviewed by two additional qualified staff. Depending on the complexity of the results and the case involved, it may take anywhere from a 4-6 weeks before the results for all the
