Full-time students can complete the program in two to three semesters, those attending part-time may require additional semesters. A minimum of 30 credits are required for the degree.

If attending classes full time (6–9 credit hours a semester) students can complete the coursework in one year (3 semesters) plus the time it takes to complete their research and thesis. The program is 35–36 credit hours total. Most students complete the program in 2 1/2 years.

Students can easily complete the MS program in nine months by taking 15 units per quarter. Students also have the option to complete the program in 15-18 months by taking 8-10 units per quarter, which costs less per quarter, and allows for part-time employment.
