How long does an auction last?
Each auction sale usually includes a morning and afternoon session – see the catalogue for details. At the beginning of each session the auctioneer will make a number of announcements about the auction procedure. The auctioneer’s pre-sale announcements are summarised at the beginning of our catalogue. He will also announce withdrawn and pre-sold lots. Lots are almost always offered in the order in which they appear in the catalogue and will not be offered in an earlier or later session than advertised. To confirm this we print an “Order of Sale” list which is distributed in the room. Sales normally finish before 6.00pm.
