How is progress on IC’s current SDS IV monitored?
Industry Canada’s Sustainable Development Strategy 2006–09 is based on the Sustainable Development and Environmental Management System with the following key elements: (1) planning; (2) implementation; (3) performance measurement; (4) evaluation; and (5) reporting. A critical part of Industry Canada’s Sustainable Development and Environmental Management System is performance reporting. This allows for senior management oversight of the implementation of sustainable development strategies. During the three-year implementation period, SDS IV will be monitored by comprehensive semi-annual performance reports to the Director General’s Policy Committee and the Deputy Minister. IC also reports on its sustainable development performance in its Departmental Performance Report (DPR), which presents sustainable development accomplishments considered against planned performance expectations. IC’s Audit and Evaluation Branch also does formative, mid-term and summative evaluations of the SDS . Reco
