How is it determined how many questions from each performance domain and content domain (subject area) will appear on each exam?
ANSWER. The content domains define the essential sciences that industrial hygienists rely on in working within the Role Delineation/Task Analysis (RDTA) performance domains (IH Risk Assessment, IH Hazard Control and IH Program Management). During the RDTA validation study, the survey respondents are asked to evaluate the performance and content domains, rating each on importance, criticality and frequency. Based on the survey data, test specifications are developed that identify the proportion of questions from each domain that will appear on the certification examination.
