How does Tuition Assistance Work ?
• Tuition assistance works like a scholarship. There is a selection committee, which selects students to receive the tuition assistance awards. • The Selection Committee looks at the applicants’ needs, goals, and grades. • If you are selected, the tuition assistance is paid directly to the Business Office. It is not paid to you, so you do not have to worry about paper work. • Average award amounts are 1 to 6 credit hours a semester. • Tuition assistance applicants are required to apply for Federal Student Financial Aid. • Please note: the amount of federal self-help aid (student loans and work-study funds) may be adjusted if the amount of tuition assistance exceeds the amount of “unmet need.” • Students who are awarded tuition assistance are expected to fulfill the following requirements: • meet with the director of the Community Outreach Counseling Program twice during the semester, • not withdraw from more than 60% of your classes, and • inform director of the Community Outreach of a
Army Tuition Assistance Policy AR 621-5, Chapter 6, Tuition Assistance contains all of the details regarding Army Tuition Assistance. Eligibility, service commitment, rates and restrictions, prohibitions and recoupment are all discussed in detail. Army Tuition Assistance will pay up to 100% of tuition costs or instructional fees and lab or shop fees in lieu of tuition costs (not to exceed the established cap of $250 per SH and $4500 per FY) while soldiers are on active duty full-time. The soldier must agree to pay the remaining amount and any other costs and fees. To obtain Tuition Assistance (TA), all eligible soldiers must declare an education goal in terms of a credential (a degree or certificate), certification (national or regional), or licensure and have an educational plan outlining the requirements of their educational goal. Soldiers without an educational plan in their education record must see an Education Counselor to obtain an Army Tuition Assistance Form (DA Form 2171). So

Therefore, the student’s family pays based on income, number of children attending, and the total tuition funds available from the school. The remaining tuition is provided by individuals, families, institutions, ministries and foundations that believe that an outstanding Christ-centered education will open doors to personal success and community leadership for motivated urban students.
