How does the test work?
All questions are multiple choice. Candidates are required to answer a mixture of literacy, numeracy and IT questions which are presented in a combined running order (ie. there is no numeracy, literacy or IT ‘section’ to the test). They only receive credit for correct answers and will be guided over the course of the test to questions at the level of their overall achievement. Our software ensures that good candidates are not required to answer inappropriately simple questions, whilst also ensuring that candidates with suspect basic skills are guided to questions of a suitably revealing level.
Using the detailed instructions as a guide, collect a hair sample of approximately 90-120 hairs. Mail the hair sample to our laboratory, using the pre-addressed envelope provided. The laboratory will analyze the hair sample for evidence of drug use. Using your HairConfirm™ Specimen ID number, passcode and email address, you must register your test once you have mailed the samples to the laboratory. Go to the results section to obtain the results.
AmniSure® is a one-step immunochromatographic device. The test is based on the use of a pair of specifically selected monoclonal antibodies that detect even a minimum amount of the amniotic fluid protein (PAMG-1), which is present in cervico-vaginal secretions after the rupture of the fetal membrane. To minimize the frequency of the false results, an additional monoclonal antibody against PAMG-1 is also employed to set up a predefined level of sensitivity of the test. During the test procedure, PAMG-1 from the sample sequentially binds to a monoclonal antibody conjugated with the label particles, and then to two other antibodies, immobilized on an insoluble carrier.
Please ensure that you arrive on time for your test. The letter sent to you after you have made a test booking will specify your booking time and what information you will be required to provide the department. The first part of your test appointment includes a registration process conducted in English which will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Please make sure you bring all relevant documents with you to the test centre, as officers from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship will need to verify your identity and take a photograph of you before you are able to sit the test. Child care facilities are not available at the test centres, so please make sure you make alternative arrangement for child care. Please note: You will not have to pay a fee at the time you sit the citizenship test.
