How does the test work?
The PDT-90 ® Personal Drug Testing Service uses a simple, in-home hair sample collection. The hair is tested for evidence of drug use which occurred during the previous several months. The package provides instructions on how to collect a small hair sample. You simply send the hair sample for laboratory testing in the envelope provided. Use your PDT-90 ® code number to receive the results confidentially and anonymously over the phone.
Once your (and any other person who is taking the test at the same time with you at the test centre) details are logged in, you will be seated in front of a computer which is connected to a test server. The instructor will guide you with some simple steps and ask you to answer the sample question (most people gets this question wrong, do not panic). When everyone is ready, the test will start. There are 24 multiple choice questions 18 of which should be correctly answered to pass. You will have 45 minutes to answer the questions and even if you finish early, your results will not be given until everyone else finishes the test. The DCS Home Drug Test Device resembles a credit card in size and shape; you dip it into the urine sample and the results read as easily as a home pregnancy test. The device will indicate whether the urine was “negative” for the targeted drugs or “Positive”, meaning the device reacted with something in the urine.
