How does the RDI process work?
The RDI process begins with parent objectives (parents meet with the consultant to discuss the following): • definition of autism (core deficits) • parent readiness (takes a look at current schedule, other therapies, etc.) • mission previews (a written example of what you want for your child) • ability to set limits with your child etc….. other RDI best practices RDA (Relationship Development Assessment) is the next step. There are six steps to this assessment (approximately one step per week) Attenedees vary from both parents (guide) and child to either parent soley. • examines the parent-child relationship • evaluates and identifies parent/child obstacles and strengths • determines optimal communciation methods, pacing, etc. • evaluates parent readiness and commitment • plans for the next month in a specific way • plans for the next six months in a general way • Continue with Weekly visits – in office consultations or video review. • Provide the child objective(s) to work on • show
