How does the distance calculator work?
It computes the great circle (direct as if no roads exist) distance from the your exact street address or geographic center of your zip code location set in MyArnb to the venue’s exact address or geographic center of it’s zip code location. The calculated distance is only an estimate and driving mileage will likely be higher especially where a water barrier exists such as the Long Island Sound. Driving instructions and a map are available by clicking the “Purple Car” icon associated with each listing.
The distance calculator helps you determine how far you are to the green and how far your driving distance was. You can bring up the distance calculator from the hole screen by tapping on the menu icon and then the Distance menu choice or by pressing the third (To Do List) hardware button. You can change which hardware button brings it up using the Preferences menu choice. For the most accurate measurements, count how many steps it takes you to walk 10 yards (or meters) and enter that value in the field at the bottom of the form. Here is how to use the calculator: • Pick a yardage marker near your ball (i.e. 150 yard marker) and tap on it in the distance calculator. If the marker (or sprinkler head) has a distance that is not shown, tap on X and enter the distance in the field provided. • If your ball is past the marker, tap on from (you will be pacing from the mark to your ball). If your ball is in front of the marker, tap on to (you will be pacing from your ball to the mark).
