The purpose of the Availability Meter is to give you a rough idea about how many people ahead of you are waiting for that particular DVD. From this you can estimate how long you would have to wait for a particular DVD. A less than full meter means there is a wait. The fewer the bars, the more people ahead of you and thus a potentially longer wait. I say “potentially” because the rental queue is very dynamic and affected by people renting DVDs, how long they keep the DVDs, renters changing their queue order and what they have in their queue and by the number of copies we have of that particular DVD. There is no difference between green bars and yellow bars. What really matters is the amount of bars you have. The fewer bars you have, the longer the wait time. For example, there is a shorter wait for a DVD that has 8 bars than a DVD that has 2 bars. The colors only serve to easily distinguish between the number of bars.
