How does Sling Box Work?
It’s best to connect a Slingbox to a cable box. It can access the cable box and control it. If someone is watching TV, you’ll have to watch what they’re watching, but you can change the channel on them as well. One way around this is to connect a VCR to the passthrough connector on your cable box and use that VCR with the Slingbox. You won’t be able to watch digital programming or scrambled content, though. Another option is to get another decoder box from your cable company. That will cost you about $5.00 – $15.00 a month extra. The Slingbox WILL use most of your internet upload bandwidth. It won’t affect download speeds much, but it will take longer to go from one web page to another when the Slingbox is being used. Slingbox does NOT play well with VOIP phone services. They both require lots of upstream bandwidth. The VOIP terminal adaptor will grab all the bandwidth needed during phone calls, leaving the Slingbox little if any. If you have VOIP phone service and want to use a Slingb
Slingbox, is plugged into your cable box or other video source (via component cables) and then you plug in a smell divice that sits infront of the infered sensor on your cable box (or device), then when you download the software for the slingbox, its loads a wizard that configures the device, and you can alter the settings so you can basically control your device and watch it over the web, and the quality is really great, i just bought one today.
